Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking a Senior Machinist for our first shift operations in our Elkton, Maryland office.
The Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems Missile Defense and Controls (MD&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton MD&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA.
Set-up and operate Mazak lathes, mills and 5 axis machines.
Set-up and operate standard conventional machine shop equipment.
Specifically lathes and mills to produce parts per drawing and/or written technical specifications.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and willing to work with explosives.
High school diploma or equivalent education. AA degree preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in a machine shop.
Must have the ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, GD & T, and other engineering specifications.
Must have working knowledge of shop floor mathematics and measuring tools/equipment.
Ability to set-up and programming of CNC lathes and mills.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Candidate must have a willingness to learn and possess a positive team working attitude.
Excellent communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Explosive training preferred.
This position will be filled on 1st shift.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work safely and concern for the safety of others.
Must be a US Citizen.
Ability to program and set-up Mazak machines
Experience with Proto-Trak lathes and mills.
Some experience with EDM equipment preferred
