The **Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C)** facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA.
**Job Summary:**
Performs a variety of tasks in the controlling and monitoring of chemicals within the company facility or manufacturing production organization in accordance with federal, state and local regulations such as EPA Clean Water Act and DOT Toxic Substances Control Act. Monitors chemicals, related equipment, and waste system indicators; makes chemical and equipment adjustments to ensure proper system functioning and chemical solution balance; removes and disposes of waste chemicals, solvents, and acids; inspects hazardous waste production and storage units; and maintains operational logs. Cleans up chemical spills. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Must have a good understanding of chemicals (acids, bases, oxidizers, flammables, reducers, water-reactives) in a variety of forms (liquids, solids, gases, sludges, slurries) and related incompatibilities to prevent undesirable chemical reactions. Work is performed in occasional hazardous working conditions and requires the use of specialized safety equipment and apparatuses.
**Basic Requirements Chemical Handler 3 - Buildings and Grounds Support:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent
+ Minimum of 2 years HazWoper, chemical handling or maintenance craft worker/helper experience.
+ Must have a valid drivers license and be able to operate company vehicles (i.e. trucks, tractors & mowers)
**Preferred Requirement:**
+ Certification as a hazardous waste worker or the ability to become certified
+ Experience working with tractors, lawn mowers, backhoes, skid steer, etc.
+ CDL license
+ Understanding of safety regulations

**Job Responsibilities:**
