Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking an experiencedDirector, Engineering Technology and Systemsto support to our team at ourPromontory, Utahfacilities.
Role description & Responsibilities:
The Director of Engineering Technology and Systems reports directly to the Sr. Director of Science & Engineering and will lead a team of approximately 50 analysts, technicians and engineers of diverse backgrounds and skillset. The position is located at the Utah Promontory facility but also has staff at the Utah Bacchus facility. The organization supports new and sustaining programs in the area of Configuration Management, Digital Design and Integration, Scientific Methods and Integrated Digital Product Development. Key interfaces of the Engineering Technology and Systems group include Analysis, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Tooling, Project Offices, Electrical Design and a Virtual Integrated Engineering Organization. The leader will continue to drive the transformation of the digital design and manufacturing thread throughout the entire product design, manufacturing and quality processes.
Provide digital design elements consistent with internal and external customer needs and requirements (performance, cost, schedule, producibility, reliability)
Develop, communicate and implement vision, strategy, goals and metrics to achieve business objectives for safety, quality, customer satisfaction, schedule, cost, and continuous improvement.
Ensure development of efficient methodologies, tools, standards, and design documentation processes.
Represent and communicate technical capabilities and technologies to internal and external customers.
Innovate current configuration management initiatives to align with industry best practices and that meet customer requirements.
Provide advanced solutions in the area of simulation tools using state of the art scientific methods, programming and delivery approaches.
Lead model-based enterprise initiatives across functions to ensure a digital thread strategy in respons business requirements. Initiatives are focused on enabling outcomes of the business – cost reduction, efficiencies, speed to market, reuse and application tool simplification across the product domains.
Lead the coordination, training, education and expansion of the digital thread usage across multiple organizations and across the product lifecycle.
Assure that the organization is properly staffed, equipped and trained to meet current and future program requirements.
Ensure leadership and key subject matter expert succession plans are in place and be proactive by coaching and mentoring key talent to be able to assume increased responsibilities.
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other organizations including other disciplines in Science & Engineering, Program Management, Test and Research Operations, Tool Design, Process Engineering, and the ASD composites center.
Utilize effective talent management strategies to attract, retain, develop and engage outstanding people for the organization.
Monitor and implement employee development plans.
Engage with functional design managers, groups, teams, and individuals to ensure that escalated roadblocks are removed, requirements and resources are defined and adequate, and that delivered products are correct and accurate.
Implement and utilize effective knowledge management processes and tools to identify, capture, and daily utilize our collective wisdom, learning, and knowledge.
Exciting opportunity to continue the transformation of utilizing digital 3D models throughout the entire product design, manufacturing and quality processes. Candidate not only will lead the organization, but must exhibit a strong desire to coordinate, train, educate and expand the digital thread usage across multiple organizations and across the product lifecycle. The successful candidate will lead close to 20 modelers and designers along with the command media associated with 3D modeling and the use of the 3D model across all organizations.
Specific responsibilities include:
Lead approximately 50 individuals in the area of Configuration Management, Digital Design and Integration, Scientific Systems and Digital Strategy groups

Own the Digital Design and Configuration Management core processes across all Promontory and Bacchus Programs
Train, market, educate and support all organizations on topics related to Product Digitalization
Education and Experience Requirements:
Strongly prefer a candidate with Education/Experience of must have a minimum of 20 years of experience with B.S., 15 years experience with M.S. or 10 years of experience with PhD.
Five or more years in a leadership position
Ability to travel: Travel expectation of up to 10%
Experience developing and deploying architectures to support product lifecycle management (PLM), computer aided design (CAD), computer aided manufacturing (CAM), computer based engineering (CAE), and model based engineering (MBE).
Proven ability to provide strategic direction regarding our Information Technology products, processes, applications, and technology.
Manufacturing or Quality experience
