Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experiencedMission Assurance / Safety / Facility Engineerto provide leadership to our Defense / MD&C team for Ronkonkoma, New Yorkoffice.

Job Summary

Implements the company's environmental, health and safety program to meet federal regulation compliance for the facility. Oversees the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety practices; develops safety procedures used throughout the facility. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety. Oversees licensed hazardous waste disposal and monitors waste handling. Develops and oversees safety training programs for employees. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.

Implement quality plans for in compliance with AS9100 Rev D, addressing design, manufacturing, integration, and test activities. Interfaces with customers, vendors, and with Northrop Grumman Manufacturing, Integration & Test and Engineering organizations to identify and resolve mission assurance quality issues. Leadership and oversight of facility equipment and maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead documented safety audits to ensure implemented precautions are being followed.

  • Participate in design reviews for new and modified facilities, processes, equipment and tooling for safety-regulated compliance to help ensure the safety of the employees and the process.

  • Assist in accident/incident investigation to help determine causes and corrective actions as needed.

  • Schedule and lead safety related training courses.

  • Writes and updates safety programs, manuals and procedures.

  • Provides accurate and timely information to management on safety issues.

  • Establishes and maintains Quality Assurance programs, AS9100 D procedures and controls ensuring that products and services conform to company standards of excellence.

  • Supports the development, implementation and maintenance of quality policy and procedures. Interfaces with suppliers in the verification of product design and reliability.

  • Reviews practices, procedures and processes seeking avenues to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce risk to product quality.

  • Interprets customer technical requirements, ensuring these requirements are integrated into program plans, specifications and product drawings.

  • Provide oversight in discrepancy review, failure investigations, as well as cause and corrective action determinations.

  • Analyze and interpret trends and executes improvements on key metrics.

  • Represents Mission Assurance at program reviews and review boards.

  • Ensure program contract requirements are flowed down internally and to suppliers.

  • Performs Root Cause and Problem Solving projects.

  • Conducts internal audits to demonstrate compliance.

  • Management of capital projects to schedule and budget.

  • Identify cost reduction opportunities within facility operations.

  • Maintain Facilities files, such as: misc. project spreadsheets, facility information package, and Share Point site.

  • Develop and oversee annual facility maintenance schedule

  • Lead Facility IPT Team.

  • Proactively seek out improvements for the facility.

  • Embrace change and manage conflict to promote a healthy working environment

Education and Experience

Requires BS in Engineering & 4 years or Masters in Engineering & 2 years of experience in complimentary position(s)

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Must be able to gain clearance from the BATF to be an employee possessor.

  • Possess a valid Professional Engineering (PE) License. Desired but not required.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.

  • Strong Project Management skills.

  • Excellent problem solving, written and verbal communications skills.

  • Self-disciplined and able to work independently

  • Ability to prioritize a variety of activities for timely response and results

  • Able to read engineering documentation and inspect drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions.

  • Understanding and application of safety regulations, standards, principles, theories, and techniques.

  • Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Solid modeling experience. Pro E / Unigraphics / AutoCAD

  • Experience in lean manufacturing

  • Experience in aerospace industry
